Immersed in the Materials Innovation and Growth Team (IGT) process at Working Group and Advisory Group levels, I thought I had a fair grasp of the breadth and depth of the communities input to the Mat UK initiative. Nevertheless, having accepted the challenge to lead Materials UK, the learning curve from 1st October 2006 has been much steeper than I ever expected. The enthusiasm shown by the Materials UK community is extraordinary and with every meeting, I become more convinced that the strength of the UK materials community is the people within it.    more »
